Allejandro Del Rey makes history: 14-under, 58 round!

Alejandro Del Rey made professional golf history this afternoon at the Swiss Challenge, carding a 14 under par round of 58 – the lowest-ever score to par on a major golf tour.
Del Rey joins an exclusive club of golfers who have carded rounds of 58 on major tours adding his name to the list alongside Jim Furyk (PGA TOUR, 2016), Stephan Jäger (Korn Ferry Tour, 2016), Ryo Ishikawa (Japan Golf Tour, 2010) and Kim Seong-hyeon (Japan Golf Tour, 2021) – all of their rounds were 12 under par on par 70 golf courses. Note: The sole Australian in the 2021 Swiss Challenge, Blake Windred, is now T9, five off the lead at the halfway after a 67 round left him 11-under. The 14-under lead is held by Germany's Marcel Schneider who broke the course record on Thursday (11-under, 61), while Alejandro Del Rey, who has just nuked Schneider's course record, is 12-under, T4.
