Cam Davis wins Rocket Mortgage Classic in first PGA TOUR victory

Cam Davis won the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday for his first PGA TOUR title when Troy Merritt missed a 6-foot par putt on the fifth hole of a playoff.
Davis missed putts to win on each of the playoff holes. The 26-year-old Australian left 6- and 18-foot putts high, a 25-foot putt low and a 19-footer high. He misread a break on a 12-foot putt on the fifth playoff hole, then won when Merritt made bogey. Read more

Cam Davis holed a 50-foot sand shot on the 71st hole of regulation and that propelled him into a five-hole playoff where he outlasted Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann to win the Rocket Mortgage Classic for his first PGA Tour victory.
"It's the only reason I'm sitting here now," Davis said at a news conference alongside the trophy. "To be honest, in my head there wasn't a thought of trying to hole it." Read more

Cam Davis has burst from the pack to complete a golden weekend treble for Australian golf with a thrilling maiden PGA Tour victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.
Davis finished eagle-birdie in a spectacular final-round 67 to force a three-man sudden-death playoff at 18 under, then triumphed from third-round co-leaders Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann – who both closed with 68s – after five extra holes. Read more

Australia's Cam Davis edged Troy Merritt with a par at the fifth playoff hole Sunday to win his first US PGA Tour title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan.
Davis had eagled the par-five 17th and birdied 18 in regulation to thrust himself into a playoff with Merritt and Joaquin Niemann, all three tied after 72 holes on 18-under-par 270. Read more
