British Masters at The Belfry, 2021, Hosted by Danny Willett: Round One

Danny Willett was delighted to put himself in a solid position and raise £5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK as he got his week hosting the 2021 Betfred British Masters off to a positive start.

The Englishman made five birdies in round one but also two bogeys in a 69 that left him just three shots behind first round leader Matthias Schwab at The Belfry. Read more

Matthias Schwab continued his excellent form on the 2021 Race to Dubai as an opening 66 handed him the lead on day one of the Betfred British Masters hosted by Danny Willett.

The Austrian made a big impression as he recorded ten top tens in the 2019 season and he is on course to eclipse that mark with four in his first nine events this campaign.

He recorded three of those in his last four events and carried that momentum to The Belfry, moving to six under and leading the way by one shot from Scotland's Calum Hill. Read more

Matthias Schwab and Calum Hill, golfers without a European Tour title to their name, were the top two on the leaderboard after the first round of the British Masters at The Belfry on Wednesday.

Schwab led outright after making seven birdies in his 6-under 66 — five of them coming in a six-hole stretch from No. 16 after the Austrian started at the 10th.

Hill, from Scotland, shot a 67 as he looks to build on three top-12 finishes in his last five events on the tour.  Read more
